Kula is operated by Fluora Inc. ("Kula," "we," "our," or "us"). Kula helps people find the right personal and professional connections — for example, among the attendees of an event or the members of a community. We collect information through messages you exchange with Kula on WhatsApp and through a voice onboarding call, use it to build a profile that represents you, and surface relevant connections to you.
Kula is a user-owned platform. You own your data. We share it only selectively, on a consent basis — nothing about you is shared without your agreement. Making introductions is the core of the Service, and Kula makes them in the context of an event you take part in — never on a standalone basis. When you join, you agree that Kula may share relevant parts of your profile with other members of that event so it can introduce you to one another (see Section 6c). When we publish an event profile or directory, we go further and share only what you have reviewed and confirmed in advance (see Sections 6d–6e). You can ask us to pause introductions or change what is shared, or leave at any time.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the rights you have. By using Kula, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
This Policy applies to information we collect through:
We use the information described above solely to:
We do not:
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
You explicitly opt in to WhatsApp messages from Kula during the voice onboarding call. We record this consent. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP in WhatsApp, after which we will stop sending you messages. You may rejoin by replying START or by completing onboarding again.
When you onboard, you also consent to take part in Kula's introductions. Kula makes introductions in the context of an event you take part in — never on a standalone basis. This means that, for an event you attend, Kula may share relevant elements of your profile — such as your name, what you do, what you are looking for, and why you may be a good match — with other members of that event in order to introduce you to one another. You can ask Kula to pause introductions or limit what is shared by messaging us in WhatsApp, and you can withdraw this consent by leaving the Service.
We use vetted providers to host our infrastructure, process voice calls, and analyze service performance. They process data only under our instructions and under confidentiality obligations.
We deliver messages through the WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta acts as a sub-processor and processes message data to deliver messages to your device. Meta's handling of WhatsApp data is governed by the WhatsApp Privacy Policy.
Making introductions is the core function of Kula, and Kula makes them only in the context of an event you take part in — never on a standalone basis. With the consent you give when you onboard, Kula shares relevant elements of your profile — such as your name, what you do, what you are looking for, and why you may be a good match — with other members of that event whom it identifies as a strong fit, so it can introduce you to one another. Other members' profiles are shared with you on the same basis. We share only the elements relevant to a given introduction, not your full profile, and we do not share your contact details or the private contents of your messages unless you ask us to connect you with someone directly. You can ask us to pause introductions or limit what is shared, and you can withdraw consent by leaving the Service (see Section 13).
When you take part in an event or community through Kula, we prepare a public profile for you after the event. You review and confirm this profile before anything is shared. Once you confirm it, we share that confirmed public profile with the other people who attended the event, with the event's organizers, and with the organizers' designated partners or sponsors. We share only the information contained in the profile you confirmed. If you do not confirm a profile, it is not shared. Once a confirmed profile has been shared, the attendees, organizers, and partners who receive it act as independent controllers of that information, and their subsequent use of it is governed by their own privacy practices rather than this Policy.
For an event, we may compile attendees' confirmed public profiles into a directory page that the event's organizers and their designated partners can keep and use (for example, heykula.ai/FindYourPeople). Your profile appears in this directory only if you have confirmed it. You can ask us to update or remove your profile at any time (see Section 13).
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Kula, our users, or others.
If Fluora Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
You can request earlier deletion at any time by emailing us (see Section 13).
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, authentication, and routine monitoring. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Kula operates from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your information in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@fluora.ai. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA.
Kula is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by WhatsApp or through the website. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Kula after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
